About GlucoTV

Built by someone in the diabetes community, for everyone in the diabetes community.

Why GlucoTV Exists

My child was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at two years old. From that moment on, glucose monitoring became part of every hour of every day, not just for them, but for our whole family.

The checking never really stops. Receivers, phones, watches, alerts, numbers, arrows. You learn to live with it, but it is always there in the background.

At some point, I started thinking about the TV.

It is already on. It is the biggest screen in the house. Everyone can see it from across the room. Nobody has to unlock a phone, open an app, or stop what they are doing just to check a number.

So I built GlucoTV.

At first, GlucoTV was only meant to solve a problem in our own house.

But once I started sharing the idea with other people in the Type 1 diabetes community, I realized the need was bigger than our living room. Other families understood it immediately. Parents talked about watching numbers through the night. Caregivers talked about wanting to glance across the room without stopping everything. People with diabetes talked about simply wanting their glucose visible while they went about their day.

Then the idea stretched a little further.

An assistant principal I know asked if GlucoTV could work for kids at her school. Teachers and nurses wanted a simple way to follow glucose readings from their computers during the school day, without needing a Roku or a separate device. At the time, GlucoTV was Roku only, but that conversation stuck with me.

That was the moment I realized this should not just be something for the TV. It needed to work anywhere someone needed a simple, reliable way to keep an eye on a glucose reading.

That is what led to the desktop viewer and the shareable browser link.

The shareable link is free for the people you choose to share it with. They do not need an account, and they do not have to install anything. They can simply open the link and see the display.

That felt like the right approach. The people checking those numbers are usually parents, grandparents, teachers, school staff, friends, or caregivers. People who are helping someone they care about. I wanted GlucoTV to make that job a little easier, whether they are at home, at school, or somewhere in between.

That is still the goal today.
